Praise for Comic Philosophy

I typically do a terrible job of promoting myself online. But I have received some heart-warming feedback from comics creators, so I thought I would quote some of their public comments here (with links to the published sources).

With my gratitude and appreciation for all you do in creating such amazing stories and art! (And kudos to Jed MacKay and Álvaro López for that hilarious panel above from Nova: Centurion Vol 1, 2025, issue #1)

P.S.: If you would like to support my work on this site (which is entirely self-supported, no ads or sponsors!) you can always donate me a comic or two:

This is a really thoughtful and thorough examination of the philosophical ideas in my Battleworld miniseries…I think Eric put more thought into it than I did! And he nails what the rest of the creative team brought. Thanks for taking the time, sir, I appreciate it!

Comic Philosophy breaks down The Power Fantasy. This is enormous, detailed and pretty overwhelming, in the best possible way. If you like thinking about TPF, this one is essential.

A whole lot of stuff in here. Probably the most detailed, intricate thing I've seen anyone write about The Power Fantasy.

Thanks, Eric! I loved reading this! Not the larger point of course, but FWIW one of the reasons I think of Jeff as more cat than dog, is because some of the things I would ascribe as "dog" qualities" (like eating anything in sight) seem also like "shark qualities" in my mind. lol

Comics Philosophy has quietly been doing some fun stuff – it’s looking at comics characters through the filter of actual philosophy and arguing the moral systems characters seem to follow. He’s most recently been writing about my Marvel Event, AXE: Judgment Day, which obviously lends itself to this kind of filter. Here’s the final piece in the series, where he tries to work out what actual system The Progenitor is using to pass or fail people.

This is a whole lot of fun. While the Precursor was very much written to be cracked, Virtue Ethics is a good lens to consider what he considers worthy.

And if you’re into ethics or philosophy, or just cool comics analysis, Eric at Comics Philosophy did a really cool piece on ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN that I really enjoyed reading. I love to see deep dive analysis of the medium and am always hoping to see more of it (it’s a fascinating medium!), so I especially appreciated this piece.

This was a fascinating analysis. Thank you for sharing!

I read your breakdown of it after it came out! It was VERY much appreciated!

I think this is very interesting and well researched stuff

See my Glossary post for a list of the key philosophical concepts and related links on this site.
